a summer post, pt. III

Annnnd finally, to catch you up completely, this weekend we went to Rexburg for my friend Brittany's wedding.  We were super close friends in high school but she went to school in CO, served a mission and then went to BYU-I... and since I've been in Utah for an eternity... well it just hasn't worked out.  Luckily this was a fun chance for us high school friends to get together again for the sealing, luncheon AND reception.   And Britt looked SO PRETTY!!!  I was in love with her dress...  and hair.

It was a fun trip... congrats Britt and Justin!!

a summer post, pt. II

The 4th of July weekend was a fun one, I was blessed to get off work early enough on the 3rd to go to the Stadium of Fire with my SILs.  It tooooootally renewed my love for Carrie Underwood!  It was really fun.  I've always wanted to go but never been before so thanks to Tashina for buying my ticket for me :o)

On the 4th we got together for a barbecue and some backyard fireworks.  P.S. I am not a fan of super loud scary singe-your-eyebrows-off fireworks, but why are the legal ones SO boring?  Every single firework we had looked exactly the same.  Lame.  At least the food was good!

a summer post

Wow, I morphed into this horrible blogger somewhere!  Eeeesh.  We used to be that couple that was NEVER busy, but lately for some reason we've had so much going on that now we don't have time to hang out with other people much, or to blog.  Maybe that makes us cooler somehow...

Anyway good news is I'm trying to be a much more productive person.  Bad news is blogging is about last on the list of things to do.  So I'll set my list aside briefly and blog anyway cause I finally have some pictures to add.  Maybe you've seen them on facebook already.

So since we went to St. George at the beginning of June we've also:

Spent a weekend in Park City with Zach's sisters, who live here, and parents, who came down from Washington.  We rented a condo, went for pizza, hot tubbed, alpine slided, ordered take out, and played on everyone's new favorite toy... the iPads.

(This is niece Hallie doing the trampoline.  I missed the alpine slide because I had to work, so no pictures... sad.)
On our last day we went to a hotel for the most to-die-for brunch courtesy of my brother in law Tom.  Very fancy schmancy... and DELICIOUS.  (This is us after brunch... fat and happy.  It was so fancy I felt inappropriate taking pictures, so just imagine the most delicious looking buffet you can handle, plus a guy who will custom make the omelette, pancake or waffle of your dreams, and you'll get the picture.)

Then we went to another hotel, the St. Regis, just to look around because it is pretty amazing.  You have to take a gondola just to get up there!

I love Park City.  Plus in some ways it reminded me of Colorado which is really true love.

Saint Gorgeous! (as Grandma says)

This weekend Zach and I and my cousin Hillary went to St. George to visit my grandparents.  It was sooo fun!  (We missed Hill's hubby Eric who thought it necessary to attend his best friend's wedding instead... Don't know what he was thinking!)  But we still had such a good time.  Their house is one of my favorite places in the world to be.  Here's a little of what we did:

  • We looked at a bunch of scrapbooks and listened to Grandpa's stories about them

 Love this picture...

This is from my grandpa's scrapbook about him being an airline pilot.  This is a picture of his application to American Airlines.  Can you believe Stewardesses used to have to include their measurements on their application?!  I couldn't get over it!
  • We played the organ with Grandpa's help- this is one thing I have to do EVERY time I visit their house (but this is Hillary)
  •  We "hiked" on a paved bike path that we thought was a loop, until we reached town and decided we'd better turn around.  No pictures.  It was the middle of the afternoon in the blazing sun and I would guess we walked at least 6 miles.  Pooooor Roxy, she was such a trooper but towards the end would collapse any time she found shade and would refuse to walk a step further!  I had to carry her part way!  And I was exhausted myself.  We all got sunburned.  But it was a fun time :o)
  •  We napped, napped, and napped some more... especially after our long long long walk
Zach with Bailey (Gma/Gpa's dog) See his brutal sunburn?!
 Grandma with Bailey
Roxy... so exhausted after our hike

  • We played lots of Rummy!  I won twice out of 3 times... and I think it was a 3-way tie for first the last game, so basically, I'm a winner.  Ha :o)
  •  We also played this thing.  I still have no idea what it's called... but it's some kind of instrument that intrigues us every time

  • We also ate DELICIOUS bbq beef, and had Grandpa's unbelievably good cheese sandwiches, and watched Fiddler on the Roof and Charade (with Cary Grant/Audrey Hepburn).  Classics!
I realize I'm not in any of these pictures, but someone had to be behind the camera!  We just had such a good time and never wanted to come home!  When we did though, we gave Roxy 1/4 of a sedative since she had been kind of wound up on the drive there.  It was so tiny we didn't think it would work but boy did it!  She staggered around before we left, and then we put her in the car while we ran back in to grab our bags.  When we came out she was inexplicably perched underneath the back window.  She never does that, so we could tell she was really confused about what was going on.  I snapped a pic just as she decided to come down.  It was hilarious!  (How did she even get up there...?)

All in all...
We miss St. George.

Smattering

I may have lied a little.  I found some pictures on my camera!  So here's a smattering of the past couple of months.  And you can all be grateful that FINALLY I am posting something with pictures!  (Don't tell me if they're not that interesting... I just don't want to hear it.)

This is our niece Kaylie playing with Roxy... I don't think she could figure out why there was a cold nose in her ears!  Ha- so cute.

We wish we could claim her as our own... hopefully any babies we make will be just as adorable!

At the end of April my work had an annual party at Boondocks.  It was W I N D Y but we had a good time!  We rode the go-karts (twice), watched a cool 3-D (4-D?) movie and soaked each other on the bumper boats.

In May my best friend had her first baby!!!  That was so exciting.  I went to visit her in the hospital the next day.  Congratulations Lo & Charley and welcome baby Everett :o)

A couple weeks ago it was my sister-in-law's 20th birthday so we all got together for dinner and cupcakes... and bubbles!

What kind of cupcakes have sparkles on them?!  They were soooo delicious.  We all tried every flavor.  Happy birthday Shaela!

MAY

Am I really going to let May go by without a single post??  No.

But don't worry, you're not missing out.  The reason I have not been posting is mostly because I have no pictures, and that is because we are just living life.  Nothing exciting going on, just day to day school, work, and spending time together when we are lucky.

And I don't feel it's necessary to really document any of that.

But to be more specific, I am still working 3/4 time and loving my job (mostly), and Zach is working part-time at his new job (and doing really well I might add!) and going to school year-round.  He got straight A's last semester!  Woooot!  When we're not at work/school, we are donating plasma twice a week (which helps us rake in an extra $440 a month so judge us if you want to!  although I secretly or not-so-secretly hate doing it) and on our days off babysitting our nieces and nephew to make a little MORE extra money.  Which we mostly enjoy doing anyway so that's a bonus!  We've been working really hard to get ahead and its juuuuust starting to pay off so we're gonna keep on truckin'.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand that's May.

(Can I just say how much though I enjoy being married and living our life, with all of its ups and downs?  It's really a blessing I'm grateful for every day... and it just keeps getting better.)
